Water Safety

The Facts

water_safety.jpgDrowning is the leading cause of injury-related death among children between 1 and 4 years old and it’s the third leading cause of death among children in the United States.

Safe Kids Tips

  • Never leave your child unattended around water. While swimming in a public place, always swim where there is a lifeguard on duty. However, it is important to supervise your child in the water even when there is a lifeguard present.
  • Sign your child up for swim lessons at a young age to increase their comfort level in the water and decrease their risk of drowning.
  • Make sure to empty all wading pools, tubs, bucks and containers after use. When finished, store these items upside down and away from where children can reach them.
  • As a parent, knowing CPR could save your child’s life.
