Who are we?

Safe Kids Greater Naugatuck Valley was established at Griffin Hospital in April 2004 with the mission to provide education and prevention programs about unintentional injury to youth and their caregivers.

While all of the programs are open to the entire community, the main focus remains on reaching out to the low income and underserved populations including the youth communities.

The coalition partners with all local police, fire and EMS personnel, schools districts, the Local Prevention Council, after school programs, and Youth Service Bureaus to bring programs into their communities.

About our Lead Agency

Griffin Hospital is a 160-bed acute care community hospital serving more than 130,000 residents of the Lower Naugatuck Valley Region. Many healthcare facilities around the world send visitors to Griffin Hospital and incorporate its concepts into their healthcare models. Griffin Hospital has more than 300 active and courtesy physicians who have admitting privileges. Griffin Hospital is recognized for having industry-leading patient satisfaction ratings and has received numerous quality and clinical excellence awards.

It is the only hospital to be named to FORTUNE Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list for ten consecutive years, and was the only Connecticut hospital to be recognized three times by the Joint Commission as a "Top Quality Performer" on key quality measures.
